Primitive methods

The simples method of cooking is to make fire and hold the food (stuck on a stick) over it. The second simplest method is to layer burning coals with dirt on top, then the food, then another layer of dirt, then build the fire on top.


The food is mixed with water and boiled until it cooks.


Water is instead boiled below and the food cooks in the steam coming off it. Steamers are devices designed for this.
